History
In 1996, Steve and Kristy Alves, a rancher and a bookkeeper/domestic goddess, rented a small building in downtown Exeter, and opened Hometown Emporium, a specialty gift shop, which also featured locally grown and hand packaged nuts and dried fruits.Immediately, Hometown Emporium became well known for their award winning gift basket creation! A few years later, Steve and Kristy moved to a larger location and continued their business. In 2000, Steve and Kristy purchased the downtown building where they are presently located and moved once again, remodeled extensively and opened their bakery and deli, and expanded their gift shop.

To Steve and Kristy, Hometown Emporium represents a way of life dating back to their childhoods, where the best part of their day centered around the dining room table with a home-cooked meal and good conversation. |
| Hometown Emporium blossomed from that remembered lifestyle and a desire for the simpler way of life, if only in our taste buds! Their goal was to prepare and serve only their best for their family and friends. From the “Morning Regulars”, to the “Coffee Guys”, to the “Teacher’s Groups”, to the “High School Kids”, to the “Couples” or “Families”, or to the “Businessmen and Businesswomen” having lunch at Hometown Emporium daily, each is treated to a generous serving of hometown charm and freshly prepared food. |
